This hit me hard this week.
I caught myself worrying about how people see me—what they think, if I’m doing enough, if I measure up.
It’s so easy to get caught up in appearances, in trying to look like we have it all together.
But then I was reminded of something powerful: God isn’t focused on the outside.
He sees what truly matters.
In 1 Samuel 16:7, God tells Samuel, “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Samuel was on a mission to find the next king of Israel.
He saw strong, kingly-looking men and thought, This must be the one.
But God had someone else in mind—a young shepherd boy named David.
The least expected. The overlooked. But the one whose heart was fully after God.
We live in a culture obsessed with image.
Social media, success, status—it all screams that you have to look the part to matter.
But God flips that idea upside down.
He doesn’t care how many followers you have, what brand you wear, or if people think you’re important.
He sees your faith, your character, and your willingness to follow Him.
So how do we take this truth and apply it? I try to remember that my heart matters more than my image.
Instead of worrying about how people see me, I ask, How does God see me?
Am I living in a way that honors Him?
I also try to encourage others who feel unseen because there are people around us every day who feel overlooked, just like David.
Sometimes, a simple word of encouragement can remind them that they are fully known and loved by God.
And lastly, I do my best to let my faith lead in everything I do—how I speak, how I act, and even what I wear.
Faith isn’t just something we keep inside.
It’s meant to be seen, shared, and lived out.
At the end of the day, the world will always focus on the outside.
But the only opinion that truly matters is God’s.
He already sees you, knows you, and calls you His.
So stop striving.
Walk in confidence.
And chase after Him with your whole heart.
That’s what really matters.
y’all are love by the lord in every way
