The Verse That Humbled Me More Than I Expected

Hey friend,

I’ve got to be honest with you,

This verse hit me harder than I thought it would.

Isaiah 1:15-16 says, “When you spread out your hands in prayer,

I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening.

Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean.” Whew.

That’s not exactly the warm, comforting verse

I was expecting when I opened my Bible that day.

But it was exactly what I needed.

It made me realize something important:

It’s easy to look like I’m doing all the right things on the outside—

Praying, going to church,

Reading Scripture—but God sees deeper.

He’s not interested in outward appearances or routine prayers.

He’s looking at my heart.

This verse forced me to ask, Am I just going through the motions?

And maybe it’s got you thinking the same thing.

So how do we take this and apply it in real life?

Maybe it’s time to stop worrying about having the “perfect” prayer and

Just be real with God—share your struggles, doubts, and failures honestly.

Ask yourself, Am I the same person behind closed doors as I am in front of others?

Living with integrity means being consistent, even when no one’s watching.

And don’t forget, repentance isn’t a one-time thing

It’s a daily, humble turning back to God.

It’s not about having it all together; it’s about being willing to come to Him as you are.

Starting small with these steps could make a big difference in your walk with Him.

This verse humbled me, but it also freed me.

God doesn’t want perfection—He wants authenticity.

Maybe it’s time we give Him that.

I’ll leave this humbling verse with you

I pray it opened your eyes the way it did mine

Blessings, Levi
